Data Visualization with R

The Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) and the ETH Zurich Chemistry | Biology | Pharmacy Information Center are co-organizing a two-day course on Data Visualisation with R at the ETH Hönggerberg Campus.

During this course, SIB Trainers will present:

• different ways to represent data and how to choose the best representation
• efficient graph design for different data types
• which tools to use (and which tools to avoid !)
• why to avoid using error bars
• good practice
• common mistakes
• advanced techniques for showing complex data during presentations
• visualization examples, both good and bad, including those proposed by the participants

This course's practicals will use the R statistical software, including packages for creating graphics (base R and ggplot2).
