On 23 April, we’re celebrating UNESCO World Book Day! Traditionally, people swap and give away books on this day. Join in the celebrations and bring your books and DVDs to the book swap van outside the entrance to the Information Centre! 

At ETH Zurich, we have access to over 35,000 scientific videos via the Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE). In the seminar on April 28 at 9:00 a.m., Dr. Solina Safari, Science Specialist at JoVE, will present how JoVE video playlists can be used in research, teaching, and learning.

From molecules to intellectual property: Uncovering the patent questions you didn’t know you had.

To celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 11, the Chemistry | Biology | Pharmacy Information Center would like to draw attention to the ETH Zurich Diversity Awards, WiNS (The Society of Women in Natural Sciences at ETH Zurich), and successful women scientists with the exhibition “Get Inspired by Women Scientists.”

With the new semester we start another series of Coffee Lectures with topics for students, assistants, and researchers. The 37th series of the Coffee Lectures begins on February 24, 2026.

From 16.2.2026 to 29.5.2026, the following opening hours apply:

Lockers are now allocated via online form. The application deadline is Wednesday, February 11, 2026. The rental period begins on Monday, February 16, and lasts until the end of the semester.

To celebrate the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, the Infozentrum is presenting a selection of books on immunology, autoimmune disease, cancer, and modern therapies. 

Do you want to save a lot of time during your research or Master's project? The Chemistry | Biology | Pharmacy Information Center offers a wide range of valuable crash courses on scientific information retrieval and visualization: Text-based literature search with Scopus, visualization with PyMOL or ChemDraw, ChatGPT for many applications, networking with LinkedIn, or information management with Obsidian. There is something for you too!

Before Christmas, the information center will have limited opening hours and will be closed during the holidays. The library will reopen on Monday, January 5, 2026, with extended opening hours.

Once again this year, a Christmas tree accompanies the Advent season in our reading lounge.

Since 1 December 2025, a freshly cut fir tree from the Höngger Forest has been standing on the H floor of the Information Centre. The library team brought the tree to the Information Centre and decorated it festively. As we do every year, we regularly hang chocolate on the tree – which is there to be eaten.

In 1975, Vladimir Prelog received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his groundbreaking work on the stereochemistry of organic molecules and reactions. To mark this anniversary, the ICBP team has assembled a selection of books highlighting the breadth and influence of Prelog’s scientific legacy.
